Because, after 20-odd years, I have finally gone hunting down an old holiday special that I accidentally caught sight of an at-the-time-disturbing-portion-of as a child, one that traumatized a good chunk of my childhood (please understand, I have always had Asperger's, causing me to be unusually sensitive in many unseen ways for all kinds of silly reasons that nobody else could ever understand, and it was even worse when I was a kid), one that in a million years I never, ever, ever thought I would ever want anything to do with ever again...
..And I have made peace with it. I have learned to like it. Love it, even.
It's this. "A Claymation Easter". A holiday special created by Will Vinton back in the '90's. The URL for the video is here. You'll have to copy and paste it for it to work, though:
As for what exactly was the part that I found so disturbing, it was this:
(Again, copy and paste)
Of course, looking at it now, I think it's kind of cool. But the point is, back then when I was a kid, at a time when it's not uncommon for things to appear more intimidating that they actually are, I was admittedly pretty freaked out and confused at the time.
Actually, it's the possibly main reason I got into the vore fandom. As a way of taming my childhood pathelogical fear of stomachs (the inside of them, I mean) that I have long blamed on this scene.
I feel so embarrassed talking about this. Anyway, moving on... I guess what I'm trying to say is, that now that I'm much older and wiser than I was, after taking a closer look at this obscure, overlooked and forgotten holiday special, getting to know its plot, characters and humor and finding out there was more to it than just that one scene, I think it has become a new fandom (if you can even call it that) for me.
And the main reason for that I guess, is that one of the characters, named Dr. Spike Rabbit, an anthropomorphic rabbit (obviously) who is a psychotherapist and radio talk show host, is a complete and total hottie. Yes, if ever I wanted to sack a bunny, it's this one. I feel so bestial, and I don't even care. (Would you believe, that in all my years of internet fandom, this is my first actual experience with a physical attraction to a furry? Yeah, I'm what my family calls a "late bloomer". ) And he's voiced by the legendary Jim Cummings, besides. What do you want from me?
Apparently, prior to this Easter Special, two other holiday specials (ones for Christmas and Halloween) had also existed, all three created by Will Vinton, the supposed founding father of claymation. A guy who I had amazingly never heard of before but was familiar some of his work. (One prominent example for me being the Nome King from the movie "Return To Oz", another character I have a secret obsession with, but that's another story.. )
Like I said; Late bloomer.
Why am I telling you all this? Because, like with any new fandom I may have acquired, you, my loyal friends and watchers, are going to put up with some fanart for it. So yeah. Consider yourselves warned.
What else? Oh yeah, I also have come to slash-ship Dr. Spike Rabbit with Wilshire Pig, the villain of the story. But I'll explain more about that in an upcoming fanart. So, heads up.
And worry not your pretty little heads: No Heart/Mistress Blackheart/Care Bears/Care Bears Villains are most definitely not going anywhere. So no need to panic, there.
It's just, that when an additional fandom invites itself in from the streets without knocking and refuses to go away, I feel I have the right to open my heart to make room for it. But that doesn't mean I love the one I've been seeing any less, don't you think?
Gah! Just like me to get into an Easter-related fandom when it's Thanksgiving tomorrow, huh?
Well, I guess true love knows no seasons, time of year, etc..
